Born February 18, 1928 in Montreal, Jean-Paul Jérôme died on August 14, 2004. He studied at the Montreal School of Fine Arts from 1945 to 1952, then learned the techniques of fresco with Stanley Cosgrove. He is one of the signatories of the Manifesto of Plasticiens (1955) alongside Rodolphe de Repentigny (Jauran), Louis Belzile and Fernand Toupin. In Paris, between 1956 and 1958, he worked alongside artists Giacometti, Vasarely, Hans Hartung and Martin Barré. Upon his return, he taught at the École des Beaux-Arts in Montreal and Sorel until 1973. Jean-Paul Jérôme has to his credit over a hundred exhibitions, both individual and collective, in galleries and museums scattered across the country. His works are also part of many public and private collections in Canada, while his work and the various stages of his journey have resulted in several publications.
